Review Note: Let me start this by saying I believe this is wrong. We should not be using our resources to check up on our own people. Good soldiers no less. If we continue in the direction we are going, we will be no better than the Rebels we are fighting.

As usual, attached to this file will be the direct feed recording from the subject under review upon the date specified. All thoughts expressed inside this review are the professional opinions of the reviewer. They are observations of the psychological state of the subject in review upon the date specified. Any conclusions drawn from such observations will be stated separate from the normal text in parenthetical notation. This is a summary of events as seen through the eyes of the reviewer, and can be put under further review if the summary seems to be lacking in areas including but not limited to: Objective reasoning, factual accounts of the events, detachment of the reviewer from the subject, and faith in the reviewers skills to accurately judge the subjects actions on at most an empathetic level. Any issues with this reviewer's account can be reported to his/her next highest official.

// Taylor got off of the train at roughly 2:17 pm on the date specified. As he left the platform and began to move towards the exit of the station, his brain activity spiked, suggesting uneasiness or nervousness.

(This is to be expected in new recruits, but Taylor has dealt with worse situations than meeting Officers of much higher ranks than himself. Consider revising welcoming protocols to offer a more friendly acceptance of new recruits.)

// The recruit checked his gear, and immediately made way to C18's Nexus. On the way, he did not talk to anyone, Officer or Citizen. He proceeded efficiently across the Plaza area, taking only 43 seconds to traverse the area between the Station and The Nexus. He entered The Nexus, making a note on his surroundings, he checked how many steps it took from checkpoint to checkpoint, noting that they were sufficient in terms of defensible areas, as it was easier for friendly forces to navigate and keep momentum, than it was for enemies.

(I'm amazed he was this observant. Further review of dossier revealed he aced the mental acuity exams for application to the MPF. Everything about this recruit seems odd however. He does not behave how a man of his experience would, in regards to his rank as a recruit. He sees it as a job, he is not offended by those of higher rank that haze him, as you will see soon.)

// After acknowledging the different sections of The Nexus, he proceeded to the armory. He chose a standard issue pistol over the more powerful .357 Magnum revolver. He also chose to take a few transmitters, bandages, a medkit, and 3 zip-ties.

(The way this subject organizes his gear is a little odd. He chooses to take medical supplies over weapons, yet he has almost no proficiency in field medicine, and top marks in combat effectiveness. Will track requisition stats to see when and where there is a change in this.)

// Taylor, after gathering all his necessary gear, turned towards the door, and attempted to open it. It was locked. He began frustrated as he had no knowledge of the Combine class locks that were placed on the doors. After a minute or so of frustration, and a few audio violations, he tapped the center display of the lock and it opened. Feeling embarrassed, he continued to walk outside the Nexus to find and report to his commanding officer. He subsequently saluted to an 02 outside the base, and was surprised to be met with hostility.

(The 02 snapped at the recruit, stating that he must remain inside the Nexus at all times. I had no idea that the protocols in C18 were so strict. Interestingly enough, he responded like a recruit. He frequently used 'sir' in his conversations, and followed through on all commands given to him. He seems to respond well to the structure of the MPF. As I said before, he has no hostility towards those that should, by society's standards be treating him with respect. He clearly understands that he has to start over in this sector and that there is no logical use for an inflated ego in this line of work. This trait is extremely valuable in any member of society, especially in someone with his skillset.)

// Taylor, not wanting to make waves, moved further into the Nexus, he examined the duties board on the upper level and shuffled around the main office before logging out of the server.

(All in all, not a very interesting entry in this subject's file, I honestly have no idea why we're wasting time on his earlier entries, what we need is what happened towards the end, but, if upper management wants it, we have to comply.)

// End Review.

// Taylor was put through the RCT training at approximately 6:38 pm. The 02 found Taylor walking around the Nexus. The 02 yelled at the recruit to report to the training room floor. Subject responded with the normal expected courtesy as he double timed it to the training room. He looked around the room, noticing another recruit in the room, he greeted him with an outstretched hand. The man did not acknowledge him, and rather seemed to not notice him at all. Both recruits snapped to attention as the training officer walked in. As the officer asked the recruits where he should begin, a last minute trainee entered the room, quickly saluting the officer and taking his place on the wall.

(Taylor didn't like this recruit, be it his lack of discipline or punctuality, he looked on the new recruit with disgust.)

// The officer went over the various status codes, as well as the sectors and their locations. The recruit that was already in the room knew most of these already, and the officer took note of this fact. The other recruit, the one that showed up late, seemed to know even less about the city than Taylor, even though he arrived at C18 only the day prior. This recruit continued to make jokes and poke fun at the officer and the training process. The officer made an example of this recruit with his blade. The sharp combat knife pierced through the man's chest, slowly eviscerating the man.

(Taylor responded negatively to this action, both horrified at the extremity of this action, and apathetic to the man's pain. He realized he was asking for it, but had no idea that the MPF would be this harsh on their own people. There was a pang of regret inside him. He wondered what would push the officer to react that way so easily, and if he would ever become that twisted and heartless.)

// The other recruit helped the wounded man up. A doctor was on standby to inject fast healing medicine into the gash. After some time, all the recruits lined up on the firing range, there were three pistols on the table, one per recruit. The officer devolved into a conversation about the importance of knowing how to operate the standard issue sidearm. The men examined the weapons, each one pulling out a clip from the firing station. The first two recruits pushed the clips into the guns and waited. Taylor picked up the clip and slammed it into the pistol. The officer tensed up, and warned the subject to relax. The subject responded by examining the contours of the pistol, pulling back the slide, and tapping the forward assist with his thumb. The officer seemed satisfied with this display, Taylor smiled inside his helmet. Taylor continued on to study the sights of the pistol, adjusting them for close range, speed shooting. The officer ordered them to ready their weapons at the targets in front of them. He made sure to tell the recruits to take it slow, ammo is the most important thing to an officer.

(Consider revising training protocols to exclude this notion, as it seems to encourage the discharge of an officer's weapon in the line of duty. This conflicts with the duties of officers to protect the citizens of the city.)

// As the officer ordered them to start, Taylor squeezed off nine shots, hitting all eight of his targets with only one miss. The other recruits did not do as well, missing one or two shots. While impressed with his talent, the officer reprimanded Taylor for lack of steady follow-up shots.

(The subject seemed to take this to heart, understanding the need of perfect accuracy in the line of duty. It could mean the difference between life and death for some poor citizen.)

// After the conclusion of training, the officer passed out the new armbands. Taylor was promoted to 05 rank, and proudly donned the armband, thinking of his future as a part of the MPF.

(At this time, the subject had no knowledge of the Rebel hierarchy, stop sending requests for such information, I will record it in review when the information presents itself.)

// End Review.

Any issues with this reviewer's account can be reported to his/her next highest official.

(I'm going to preface this one with saying, this is the interesting part. The subject proved himself in the face of overwhelming danger. This could definitely be the one we've been looking for.)

// Taylor started patrol today in the middle of chaos. Antlions were swarming the streets, necrotics were loose. The city was in ruin. Subject immediately grabbed his sidearm and rushed an Antlion, firing two full clips into the beast in a matter of seconds. The creature screamed in pain but did not back down. The subject took an immense hit to the chest as the Antlion slammed him, blood splattering against his display. His new partner, the NOMAD 44343 subject that requested the medical scanner, attacked the monster, killing it with brutal efficiency. Taylor was helped to his feet, dusted off by his partner, and handed his firearm.

(The fact that this subject charged a beast like that demonstrates extreme bravery. The fact that he only had a pistol and a bootknife was sheer recklessness, but this is to be expected given his character.)

// The subject's next orders were to secure all the citizens he could into the 45th's apartment complex. He and 443 moved almost fluidly through the mass of monstrosities before them. Both men cracked open the double doors to find more necrotics infecting the place. They blasted through these and stepped quickly through the foyer, and into the lobby. While his partner corralled the citizens into a safe zone, Taylor sealed off the vents to the entire building, this way, no new necrotics could take position behind them. He could hear the scratching of the monsters at the door. He nodded at his partner and steeled himself.

(The bond these two share is amazing. In a few short sessions, I have seen both units support each other on and off the battlefield. Dare I say it... They are friends.)

// Team Blackjack was hailed on the radio as they continued their sweep of the 45th's. There were two MPF units trapped on the bridge to sector 5. They made their way towards this distress call, making sure to check for survivors the whole way. When they found the door to the catwalks, unit 443 broke it down with brute strength, and met an Antlion face to face. Taylor tackled 443 out of the way just before the monster brought its claw down upon his head. Both men drew their sidearms and fired from the ground at the Antlion. It fell dead with a terrifying scream. 443 holstered his pistol as Taylor helped him up. They quickly jogged across the bridge, meeting the stranded units. One was bleeding out, and the other was slightly delirious, spouting nonsense such as: Freeman was right. The NOMAD unit patched up the injured man, while Taylor checked his gear. He noticed he was out of ammo. He made this fact known to his partner, and the NOMAD authorized Taylor to use an MP7 submachine gun.

(Before you ask, yes, I sent a reprimand to command as protocol dictates. It was returned with a handwritten note signed by the good doctor himself, stating that if I wish to keep my position, that I will not follow up on any reports of violation from Fireteam Blackjack.)

// They continued with very minimal injuries. Eventually meeting up with the good doctor and his OTA protection units. Blackjack saluted immediately. The good doctor asked them to be at ease and to let his protection team handle the further debris. The OTA's roared with an almost animalistic strength, tossing the debris aside like toothpicks. Facing another wave of nectrotics, Taylor burned through the rest of his ammo. He asked permission to investigate sector 5 for supplies. This action was subsequently granted as he moved on ahead. 443 attended to the citizen's wounds and Taylor came upon heavy resistance which he dispatched beautifully with his knife. Upon the discovery of a rebel med stash, he was informed by 443 that the doctor had escorted the citizens to safety via chopper, and that 443 was moving to assist.

(They were alone in the next bit, as a scuffle with necrotics disabled their communication devices. Keep this in mind as you read the summary.)

// Stranded at the back entrance of the Nexus, the two units resulted to hand to hand combat, sustaining no real injuries. A particularly strong necrotic was able to overpower 443, pinning him to the ground. Taylor sprung to action, tossing his knife at the necrotic with tremendous force, stunning it. He then ran up to the necrotic, and in one smooth motion, ripped its head off while kicking the body away. The body, while still alive, rushed 443 again, but this time he was ready, he drew his pistol and fired his last two shots at center mass. They connected, and the beast went down. Taylor picked his partner up, noticing the massive claw mark etched into his mask. Just then the Nexus came back to life with a mechanical scream. The back door shot open and the two units dove inside, being chased by necrotics and Antlions. After regaining their breath, they were greeted with the outstretched hand of the good doctor. They knew it was over. They had both done so much, saved so many. The doctor commended both units on their outstanding performance, handing out an 01 Badge to 443, and an 02 badge to Taylor. He had jumped from 04 – 02 in a matter of hours. He took the designations Vice and Jury, knowing that they would serve him well. The two units were dismissed from duty. They shambled into the destroyed plaza, sat down on the cold pavement, and stared out into the night sky. 443 got two drinks from the nearby dispenser, and they shared the moment of a lifetime. They saw hell, and it flinched. They were true heroes.

(I wish this was where I could end Taylor's story... But there is so much more to come from this subject. I implore you to seek these men out, if they are still alive, and buy them each around. Sit there, and listen to the stories they tell, you just might learn something.)

This is like more work than I've done for... anything.

I'm still only on like half way through the first one, running low on supplies but I think I can make it..
